Obituary for Anna Lois Trowell (Serson)

Anna Lois Trowell (Serson)
Trowell, Anna Lois (nee Serson)
December 22 1915 – July 18 2014
Peacefully in her 99th year at the Peter D Clark Centre with her family by her side. Lois was predeceased by her true love, best friend and husband of 51 years, Fred Trowell in 1998, as well as beloved daughters Anne Hillmer in 2001 and Elizabeth Trowell in 1998. Lois is also predeceased by sisters Myra Macallister, Elizabeth (Betty) Serson, Hilda Chapman, and by brothers William Serson and John (Jack) Serson. She will be lovingly remembered by son Don and daughter-in-law Laura Torrance, and dearly missed by her nieces and nephews, the Hillmer family, and many friends. Lois grew up on a farm in Antrim Ontario where her lifelong love of animals began. She then moved to Ottawa where she worked first at Birks then at the Bank of Nova Scotia until her retirement. She was very active in the community as a member of the Protestant Girls Club, the Gyro Ladies Auxiliary and the Perley Auxiliary. Everything that she did was done with joy, energy, and love, and nothing was more important to her than family and friends, whom she drew around her each summer at the Constance Bay cottage. She enjoyed bridge and travel, and was a passionate season ticket holder of the Ottawa Rough Riders for many decades. Sincere thanks to the staff of the Peter D Clark Centre, where she lived for the past six and a half years. Their immense care and affection along with the companionship of Kathy MacLean made those happy years for her. Family and friends are invited to visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street (at O’Connor) on Sunday July 27th from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 11:00 am at Trinity Anglican Church, 1230 Bank Street. Memorial donations to the Ottawa Humane Society would be appreciated
