Obituary for Betty Hammond (Hobden)

Passed away peacefully on October 28, 2014 at Granite Ridge, Stittsville, Ontario at the age of 90. Betty Hammond (nee Hobden) wife of the late Christopher Hammond and by her first marriage, the late Ken Cochrane. Loving mother of Ann Cochrane (formerly Dubé), the late Joan Cochrane (formerly Irving) and Jean Cochrane (Peter Basham). Dearest Gran to Steven Irving (Kelly Campbell), Christian, Eric and Katherine-Ann Dubé (Daniel Porlier); great-Gran to Phoebe and Stuart Irving. Beloved daughter of the late David Hobden and Alice Fenemore of Sussex, England. Predeceased by her sister Mollie Hobbs. Betty leaves Hobden family members in England and Canada as well as the family of her best friend, Mary Evenden. She also leaves to mourn her, Chris Hammond Junior in Edmonton, Alberta and Terry Hammond in Mississauga, Ontario. She worked for many years at the Unemployment Commission where she was known as Betty Cochrane. She was a long-time member of the Highlands Golf Club where she enjoyed many years of golf with her husband Chris Hammond. The family is most grateful to the caregivers at Harbour House, Granite Ridge. Friends are invited to visit at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Avenue (at Richmond Road) on Saturday, November 1st from 12 noon until the time of the Memorial Service in the Chapel at 1 p.m. Reception to follow. Interment of the urn at Capital Memorial Gardens after the reception. Donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
