Condolence: A bout 5 years ago Carolyn & I were introduced to Eric at the Lewisporte Yacht Club NL. Eric was on hhis computer and David was introducing him, he recieved us graciously , laying down his computer. We had what I think was an exceptional conversation for a young person as we were well into our senior years. Eric proceeded to tell us how he enjoyed sailing this area, the scenery and beautiful coastline. Carolyn and I was really impressed that Eric took the time to chat with us, we both agreed that he was an exceptional young man, he certainly left a lasting impression with us. So sorry this planet has lost such a fine soul.

Condolence: I remember first meeting Eric, David and Laurie at PRI at the first parent workshop after my son, Brendan, and Eric entered the program. Eric was so quiet. I’m not sure I heard him speak the entire two days. I remember that being really painful for Laurie and David as the other boys shared affirmations with each other and with their parents. We often saw Eric at Sunday brunches in the months to follow and saw his true, beautiful and charming self slowly emerging. At the next parent workshop many months later I walked into the classroom where team 2 was meeting and Eric crossed the room, greeted me and reached his hand out introducing himself with the most beautiful smile. I said “I know who you are, Eric”. He said, “Oh. I wasn’t sure.” I replied, “But it sure is nice to talk to you”. That smile of his was breathtaking. And what a transformation! I remember Eric’s first outing from PRI with David and Laurie. It was a momentous occasion and somehow a few of us ended up at Boston Pizza in Orangeville for lunch. It felt good… safe… like family. There was another weekend that I visited PRI to see Brendan and planned to take him to Orangeville to kick around for the day, have lunch… Eric joined us and it was such a lovely, natural, peaceful outing. The boys just walked together. We had lunch at Kelsey’s, window shopped, hit a couple of nice stores (Eric certainly had great taste and fashion sense!). As we were getting ready to head back to PRI I suggested we grab Starbucks for the drive. Eric was so appreciative of me bringing him on our outing and taking him out for lunch that he insisted on buying my latte. He seemed really proud to do that. It meant so much to me. Such a tremendous loss of a beautiful and gentle spirit.

Condolence: I was privileged to meet Eric on an overnight visit to your cabin, where we all paddled and picnicked together. You spoke to me then of your deep love and your hopes for him. That evening he was a quiet presence in the room which I can still feel. I join with you in your loss and pray that your hearts will be healed.

Condolence From: Dan Balcom
Condolence: I spent one season coaching Eric in minor hockey and, like others, will always remember that bright smile beaming through his helmet cage. He loved to carry the puck, stick handling into the offensive zone, just within the blue line, to fire a wrist shot high and hard at the net. Since hearing the sad news I have been thinking quite often of Eric. My sincere condolences.

Condolence: David and Laurie, So sorry to hear of Eric's death. We worry so much about our kids and feel such relief as they pass through childhood and the teens years in relative safety. By their 20s, you think all good, they're into adulthood. To see Eric's life cut short at that moment is tragic and a sorrow beyond words. All my sympathy. Rick

Condolence: Dear David and Laurie, we were so terribly saddened to hear this news. What a sorrowful time for you. To see his photo with his wonderfully engaging and slightly impish smile takes us back to those wonderful seasons of hockey we spent together - the image of Eric in joyous abandon, streaking off on a breakaway will forever be emblazoned in our memory and in our hearts. You are very much in our thoughts and prayers. With much love and wishes of peace, Alex, Pat, Brennan and Sean-Daniel.

Condolence: As anyone from his hockey family will say, the only thing faster than Eric's feet was his smile. His coaches and team mates never had to question his work ethic but just help him find his spot and stand back and smile along with him. Thanks to Eric and his family for all they contributed to our teams over the years.
