Condolence: Sincere condolences to Bruce's loved ones. Bruce's company always added enjoyment to hikes on the Rideau Trail, as I'm sure was the case in all his other endeavours. He will be missed.

Condolence: I will miss Bruce very much as a fellow hiker and as a great teacher. He helped me learn how to do a historical walk -the capital City walk which I did last fall both for the RTA for out of town people who were attending a conference -I really appreciated all the effort, books, pamphlets and hints he gave me and how he tested me to ensure I knew it all. I also appreciated the poem he wrote when I retired from the government --the best and most beautiful poem My deep condolences to Audrey and his family and Bruce even though you are no longer with us I will be thinking and talking about you for a long time Love Marilyn Schwartz

Condolence: This is a very sad shock. Chatting last week about some upcoming hikes and fall singing. Our friendship began in Grade 6. It is too early to end. A true Renaissance Man will be missed greatly. Love to all.

Condolence: My deep sympathy and prayers to Bruce's family & other dear ones, especially his mother, whom I met a few years ago. I was very fond of Bruce, he always had a smile & a hug for me as he greeted folks & operated the elevator at Trinity. We were also in a few book club gatherings together, and he always made my day brighter, just to be there. I'll miss him a lot!

Condolence: Dear Audrey: You are in my thoughts. What a terrible shock and tragic loss. I was so very fond of Bruce and so grateful for all he did with and for his fellow Rideau Trail hikers. May you find the strength and courage to get through this afternoon and the days ahead. Sincerely, Elizabeth Gluckstal

Condolence: Over the years, I was very lucky to sometimes sit beside Bruce at choir practice and at concerts. Together we complained and smiled over Tenor issues and teased the Basses. Besides his obvious gentle humour and caring acts in support of the choir, Bruce had a very unique skill. He could pack a mean car truck - every square inch was used, and he could pack a ton of stuff into a tiny space after a garage sale. To his family and friends, my condolences. The world is no longer so bright.

Condolence: Bruce was a dedicated member of our choir. As is often the case, there are many people we see on a regular basis who we wished we knew better, and Bruce was no exception. When we did have a chance to chat for a few minutes here and there, we discovered our mutual enthusiasm for hiking and the outdoors. I'm glad that we made that connection - my condolences to his family and friends.

Condolence: I first met Bruce in 2005 during the Rideau Trail Association's end-to-end hiking program that year. I was instantly struck by Bruce's fine sense of humour and humble, engaging manner. Over the years it was always fun hiking and talking with Bruce. The poetry that Bruce composed and published in the Rideau Trail Association newsletter was greatly appreciated, and demonstrated another facet of Bruce's wonderful, warm personality. Happy hiking Bruce, wherever you are. We are going to miss you.

Condolence: Bruce will be sorely missed by his friends at Atlantic Voices. As a director, I could always count on his unfailing energy and his devotion to the task at hand. It was always a joy to look out at the tenors and be met by that gentle smile. Just last weekend, Bruce was there among us, singing with his usual spirit in our spring concert, which makes his sudden passing even more of a shock to the choir. We were fortunate to have him as part of the Atlantic Voices family. Our sympathies go out to his loved ones.

Condolence: As one of Bruce's bridge partners for the last four years or so and a fellow hiker as well, I'm really sorry that Bruce has left us, and that it happened so suddenly. I can still see him as we parted at Billings Bridge on Monday, with the usual twinkle in his eye and plans for the week ahead. At least he was still going, doing the things he enjoyed in his own inimitable style, right up until the end. My sincere wishes to his partner Audrey Stewart, his family, his other bridge partner Maureen Dawson and all those who knew Bruce from hiking, his choir, bridge or any of the other myriad activities in which Bruce always seemed to be engaged -- there are few such as Bruce, and he will be sorely missed. Condolence: To all who hold Bruce dear, Bruce's was one of the first welcoming faces I met at Trinity when I began attending seven years ago. I worked with Bruce on several events and was always very happy to see him there. I remember once during a book club meeting that Bruce surprised and delighted us all by suddenly standing on his head. His joyful energy was evident in all he did, and I will miss him. I'm very sorry to not be able to attend his memorial as I will be in Montreal, but my thoughts are with you all, and I wanted you to know that Bruce will be remembered very fondly and missed by so many of us. My deepest sympathy.

Condolence: Dear Friends and Family of Bruce, I am so sorry to hear of Bruce's passing. I knew Bruce through Trinity United Church. I came to look forward to seeing his smiling face and to be greeted by a warm hug. We worked together on the Bazaar and shared our thoughts on spirituality in book clubs. Please know I will hold you all in my prayers.
