Veteran WWII Polish Home Army (AK) – Warsaw Uprising 1944
Member of Polish Combatant’s Association – Ottawa

Passed away peacefully on Wednesday May 27, 2015 at the age of 85.

Dear mother of Barbara, Sandi, Elizabeth, Mark and Mike; Proud Babcia of Alison, Ryan, Cory, Kyle, Jesse, Kevin, Michael, Katie, Becky, Carson and Christopher and great-grandmother of Nick, Halle, Emma and Carly. Remembered fondly by her brother Jerzy and family, her cousin Grzesiek and family and her many friends in Poland, Canada and around the world. Predeceased by her parents and her brother Andrzej.

Born in Warsaw, Poland, veteran of the Warsaw Uprising (awarded Cross of Valour), married in London, England (Tadeusz), immigrated to Canada (London, ON) in 1957, moved to Ottawa in 1971 where she worked for the Corps of Commissionaires and lived for the balance of her life.

Zofia enjoyed many trips back to her beloved Poland and shared this love with her children and grandchildren. She cherished her time spent at the Pinery, enjoying beautiful sunsets and leaving her footprints in the sand during long walks on the beach.

A Memorial Reception to celebrate the life of Zofia Kolberg will be hosted by her family and the Polish Combatant’s Association on June 27 from 2 to 4 pm at Dom Polski, 379 Waverley Street, Ottawa, ON.
For those wishing to attend, a mass for the repose of the soul of Zofia Kolberg will be held at 5 pm at St. Hyacinth Parish, 201 LeBreton St. N. Ottawa, In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Polish Home Army Invalid Fund (care of the Polish Combatant’s Association in Canada, Branch 8, 379 Waverley Street, Ottawa, Ontario K2P 0W4).
