Obituary for Griffin Danyiel Walker

Griffin Danyiel Walker
Walker, Griffin Danyiel
On Monday, November 23, 2015. Griffin, aged 11, died comfortably and peacefully at home surrounded by his family. Much loved eldest child of Dan and Jennifer Walker (nee Sharkey), and big brother to Kathleen (Kay) and Hannah; grandson to Joyce and the late Brian Sharkey and Jim and Sally Walker. Griffin was loved by a large extended family and will be missed by many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Despite a diagnosis of cerebral palsy, with the help of many caregivers and organizations, Griffin lived a good life, one in which he was able to enjoy the cottage, his warm swimming pool, snoezelen rooms and long bumpy walks in the sun.
Griffin enjoyed extraordinary care and attention through the years from medical staff, therapists, support workers and volunteers at Roger’s House, the Ottawa Rotary Home and Ottawa Children’s Treatment Centre. Special appreciation to the teachers and assistants at St. Bernard elementary school for their incredible dedication to their students, Griffin included.
Heartfelt thanks to Ana Maria, Erin, Lisa, Amanda, Tammy and Sarah P for their support work with Griffin.
Friends and family are invited to visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street (at O’Connor) on Friday, November 27th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 pm.
Please consider a donation in Griffin’s name to the Ottawa Rotary Home, the Ottawa Children’s Treatment Centre or Roger’s House to support the many families in our community who rely on their services.
