Obituary for Alan Leister

Leister, Alan

Passed away peacefully on Friday, January 29, 2016 after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Survived by his wife and best friend Helen (nee McCarthy), together for 32 years, married for 25 years, and their beloved children, Alexander and Hannah.
Alan will be fondly remembered by his elder sisters, Amelia Fairley and Lainy Leister Scott; brothers-in-law Davie Scott and Andrew McCarthy; sister-in-law Amanda McCarthy; mother-in-law Joan McCarthy; nieces Jamie Fairley, Diane Scott Mellett and Lucy McCarthy; and nephews David Scott, Gary Fairley and Sam McCarthy.
Alan and Helen, Scottish and English respectively, settled in Canada in 1999 after many adventures in Europe and the former Soviet Union with the British Diplomatic Service. Alan most recently worked as a carpenter at Carleton University Ottawa and was a life-long, die-hard Glasgow Celtic supporter.
A Private Service has been held. For those wishing and in recognition of the special care Alan received, in memoriam donations to Hospice Care Ottawa - Central West Hospice, 1400 Carling Avenue, Ottawa, ON K1Z 7L8 would be appreciated.
Alan's was a life well-lived. He may be gone from our sight, but he will forever remain in our hearts.
