Obituary for Ulana Marta Roxolana Burij-Perovic

Ulana Marta Roxolana Burij-Perovic
BURIJ-PEROVIC, Ulana

It is with a heavy heart that we mourn the passing of Ulana on Sunday, January 31, 2016 at the age of 62. Ulana was a beloved wife, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, godmother, co-worker, friend and textile artist. Ulana will be remembered for the love, kindness and compassion she showed to others. Dearly beloved wife of Kreso Perovic. Loving daughter of Anna and the late Jakiw Burij and daughter-in-law of Vlado and the late Ankica Perovic. Cherished sister of Luba (John Patterson). Dear sister-in-law of Lydia Perovic. Fondly remembered by her nieces and nephew: Misha (Michelle Martin), Sonja and Ariana Patterson and Enelyse Messersi.

Ulana contributed 30 years of dedicated service to the public through her career in the federal government. Her most important work was discovered in retirement. While fighting without complaint against her own cancer for 16 years, she made hundreds of beautiful and award-winning quilts that provided warmth and caring to others fighting with cancer. These creations are distributed through Victoria's Quilts of Canada. Over the past decade, this charitable organization has donated more than 50,000 quilts.

Friends are invited to visit at the McGarry Memorial Chapel, 176 Route 105, Wakefield, Quebec on Saturday, February 6, 2016 from 12 noon until a Celebration of Ulana's Life in the Chapel at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Victoria's Quilts Canada http://victoriasquiltscanada.com/ or to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
