Obituary for Glen Patterson MacPherson

Glen Patterson MacPherson
MacPHERSON, G. P. (Patt)

Patt passed away peacefully in Ottawa, on Saturday, January 30, 2016, at the age of 79 years. He was the loving husband of Phyllis Chicoyne MacPherson for 55 years.

Patt was born in PEI. His early education was in a one room school in Kilmuir. During his university years, he was in UNTD training and rose to the rank of Sub-Lt. RCN (R). After graduating from Prince of Wales College, he visited Montreal in 1954, where he met Phyllis and decided to stay. He graduated from McGill in 1957.

Patt worked for CIL, which led to a secondment by ICI to New York City for two years. He continued working in textiles and government relations in Toronto and Montreal before joining Corporation House Limited, Ottawa, as International Trade Consultant. He retired as President in 2006.

Patt was a man of many interests and talents. He enjoyed history, writing, bridge, skiing, salmon fishing, wood working and especially his time in Barachois West in the Gaspé Peninsula. There his ashes will be interred at St. Paul’s Anglican Church Cemetery. Loved and cherished by all who knew him, Patt’s spirit will always remain in our hearts.

Thank you to family and friends for your love and support.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street (at O’Connor), Ottawa, on Saturday, April 23rd at 2:30pm. Reception to follow.
