Obituary for Hans Friedrich Strube

Hans Fredrich Strube
Passed peacefully, surrounded by family, on March 29th 2016, at the age of 84.
Hans was born in Hamburg Germany. He apprenticed as a tool and die maker at Franke & Heidecke (a camera company). He came to Canada in 1954 and met his beloved wife (Kris) while in Toronto. They moved to Ottawa where he worked for Bell Northern Research (Nortel) and later ran his carpet cleaning business (Duraclean). He retired from Nortel to become an entrepreneur in several ventures. In his final job he returned to tool and die making.
Hans enjoyed the arts. He figure skated for many years and won many awards with various dance partners, including his wife and his daughter. He was also an amazing photographer. Photography was both his hobby and passion. He also became graphic designer, and later undertook website design and writing. Skiing was a sport that he passed on to his family, for which they will always be grateful. He was a lay person at church and was a very active member.
He has touched so many people and he will be sadly missed by all of them.
He is predeceased by his younger brother, Norbert.
His love of his life, his wife Ann Kristin, will truly miss him. His sons Nick (Dora) and Jason, his daughter Heidi have been truly blessed to have been his children. He was very fond of all his grandchildren, Shea-Lyn (Connor) Ashley (Daniel), Melissa, Brayden, Eric and Sophia. He had the great honour of being a Great Grandfather to Madeleine, Kiersten and the family newest member Marlena.
The family would like to thank all the nurses and doctors at the Civic Hospital that took such good care of him.
Friends are invited to visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street (at O’Connor) on Thursday April 7th from 5-9pm. The Funeral service will be held at The Church of the Good Shepherd, 693 Riverside Road, Wakefield, QC on Friday April 8th at 11am.
The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, please direct your donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, which he greatly benefitted from during his final years.
