Obituary for Lorna Esther Elizabeth Dixon (Johnson)

Lorna Esther Elizabeth Dixon (Johnson)
DIXON, Lorna E.E.

The family of Lorna E.E. Dixon (Johnson) are sad to announce her death on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at the age of 95. Beloved wife of the late Lloyd S. Dixon of Winchester. Loving mother and mother-in-law of John (Patty), Donna (Debby), Debbie (Art), Joan (Ron), and Jim (Mary-Ellen). Very proud grandmother of 12 and great-grandmother of 11. Lorna is also survived by her brother Walter Johnson (Muriel), 4 nieces, a nephew and their families. Predeceased by her husband Lloyd, her much-loved sister Beatrice Elliott (George), her parents (Irma and Elzie Johnson), her parents-in-law (Lottie and Les Dixon) and her sister- and brother-in-law (Ruth and Dwight Jones). Lorna lived 68 years in Winchester and had a wide circle of friends. In addition to raising her family, she worked as a nurse (BGH graduate–1942) both privately and at the Winchester District Memorial Hospital and helped Lloyd with his grocery business. Retirement, the loss of Lloyd, and the long-term illness (pulmonary fibrosis) did not slow her down. A Memorial Visitation will be held at the Daniel’s Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 472 Main Street West, Winchester on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 between the hours of 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., followed by a Funeral Service in the Chapel. A reception for friends and family will follow. Cremation and interment will take place at a later date. Donations in memory of Lorna may be made to the Winchester District Memorial Hospital or the Winchester United Church.
