Peacefully, Emma passed away at home on September 24, 2016, after a courageous battle with cancer. Loving partner of the late Gerry Kelly. Emma is survived by sisters Marilyn (Kavanagh) Kluke of Aylmer, Quebec and Phyllis (Kavanagh) Sloan of Vinton, Quebec. Predeceased by sister Joan O'Brien, brothers Vernon , Keith , Ronnie and Pat. Stepmother to Pat, Diane, Donna, Mike and James Kelly and Grandchildren. Emma will be sadly missed by her Godchild Peggy Frost and her many nieces, great nieces, nephews and great nephews. Special mention to "Team Emma", nieces, Laurie Kluke, Lisa Kluke-Hurtubuise, Debbie Frost and Donna Rooney, who were by her side throughout her journey. Emma grew up in Vinton Quebec to parents Aileen Hearty and Gerald Kavanagh. At the age of 17 she moved to Ottawa and enjoyed a 35 year career with the Bank of Canada. Emma worked part time at Lansdowne Park as a young teenager, which lead to a passion for football and her team the Ottawa Rough Riders, later attending the Red Blacks first game at the new TD Place Stadium. Emma loved to ski, walk and hike, spending time doing these activities in her favourite spot in Gatineau Park, and in the summers she enjoyed her time cottaging in Westport. Emma had a zest for life, and all that knew her, loved her for her energy, honesty and integrity. Thank you to Dr B Valia, whom Emma had such trust and respect, for the genuine caring and support she gave over the years. Many thanks to the Physicians and Nurses at the Ottawa Hospital Cancer Centre for their compassionate care. Thank you to the Home Health Care Nurses from Bayshore and special thank you to her community network of friends and neighbours. At Emma's request there will be no Memorial service, however, the family asks that you remember Emma in your prayers. Interment at Notre Dame Cemetery, Ottawa. Donations can be made to the Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
