Condolence: I will always be grateful to Mr Stanley for giving me a "50" in Grade 12 Chemistry in 1984 - I struggled the whole year and I really didn't deserve it but he gave me a pass anyway. I will never forget the kindness he showed and I'm sorry to hear of his passing.

Condolence: So sorry to hear of Don's passing. We will miss him floating around the lake on the raft and his great knowledge of lake water and his prescence at the association meetings to interpret the water quality findings for all of us.

Condolence: I am so sorry to learn of Don's death and I send my deepest sympathy. I always appreciated Don's very dry humour whenever we got together for lake meetings. He clearly felt that the lake was where to relax and not get up tight. He always brought us back to reality. He will be missed very much.

Condolence: Mr Stanley taught me at Colonel By in the late eighties. He was a wonderful teacher who always took the time to ensure we students understood the subject matter. He was one of the most enthusiastic teachers ever. The fact that so many of us remember him fondly shows what an impact he had on his students. Very sorry to hear of his passing and my condolences to his family.

Condolence: Dear Jacquie, Sabrina and Phillip, I was shocked and very saddened when Howard called me and told me of Don's death I'm sure the last couple of months have been very difficult for all of you. I send you my love and heartfelt sympathy. As many of the condolences testify he was a well respected good person who has made a positive difference in many lives. I am very sorry that, contrary to to what I told Howard, I will not be able to go down on Friday but hope to see you soon. May the love you shared with Don as wife and father uphold and sustain you now and in the coming days, months and years.

Condolence: So sorry to hear about the death of Mr Stanley. He was my science teacher back in the early 1980's at Colonel By. He made me curious and ask constant questions. My son even got to experience his love of teaching, as a supply teacher. He would come home with these stories of this great supply teacher. He remained one of my favorite teachers. I will never forget his humour and his desire to make us all reach for more.

Condolence From: Susan Shvetz (Stanley)
Condolence: Goodbye Uncle Don I feel so lucky to have had you in my life. You have always been there for me and my children. Always willing to help us out. You listened to me and supported me and reassured me that I was a good person. I learned so many things from you, some things that stand out are appreciation of wildlife, recycling and being a kind person. We shared a love for dogs. One of my fondest memories was going for long walks at the cottage with Rover and Snoopy and picking berries along the way. I admired your courage when faced with a cancer diagnosis. Your appreciation for life really impacted me. I wish you didn't have to go so soon. You are so special to us. I miss you already and always will. My deepest condolences to my Aunt Jacquie, Philip and Sabrina. XO

Condolence From: Pat and Bruce Irving
Condolence: Dear Jacquie, Philip and Sabrina We are very happy to have shared with your family so many wonderful cottage times: raft rides, fireworks, gourmet meals with fresh bread and Orleans corn. And that will continue. We promise, going forward, to invoke Don's name over each and every Classic coke. We know he will somehow continue to oversee the quality of the lake water as assiduously as always and look after all of the four legged creatures he so loved. Yes,the first one on the lake each year, and the last one off, he was the steward of the Barnes Lake habitat. Thanks, Professor Stanley. Carry on! P.S An image of Don in his signature mosquito-net high-fashion headgear can readily be called to memory when we feel lonely for him. Love, Pat and Bruce, Colin and Craig, Ali (and now her kiddies Seth and Carly who have recently had the pleasure of sharing many of Don's outdoor interests with him.)

I will certainly miss running into a classroom where he was teaching and hugging him to the surprise of the students! He always smiled and told them I was his favorite student. judging by the tributes coming in on facebook Don Stanley was the favorite of many many students. I will miss you Mr Stanley, rest in peace. xo
