The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of David Hall can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Condolences

Condolence From: John Hucker
Condolence: David was a remarkable individual. His career was spent largely in the field of immigration, as a senior official with Canada's Immigration Department and subsequently as a consultant working in Canada and Britain. But he was much more than this, a highly intelligent, principled individual with a keen interest in politics, different cultures and soccer. He travelled widely and lived for extended periods in London and Bangkok. He took great pleasure in observing the passing scene, capturing many moments in his journals, which make fascinating reading.

David was not an easy person and did not readily display emotion. But he was a constant friend, an always enjoyable house guest for Jackie and me, and an excellent chef whose eggplant parmigiana was particularly memorable. David appreciated good food and drink but lived simply and was perhaps the least materialistic person I have known.

His family relationships were not always easy but he was immensely proud of his daughter Claire's achievements. He was also happy that he re-established contact with his son Anthony before the end.

David was a rare person who will be remembered with great fondness by my wife Jackie, myself and our daughter Rebecca.
