Obituary for Elizabeth Blomfield (Kinzinger)

Elizabeth (Betty) Blomfield passed away at Queensway-Carleton Hospital in Ottawa on December 10, 2019 at the age of 96. She was born in the former Yugoslavia and came to Canada at the age of 10. Her family settled eventually in Toronto where she lived most of her life.

She was predeceased by her husband Edmund Blomfield, her parents Sofia and Karl Kinzinger, her brother Karl Kinzinger, and her brother-in-law Leonard Sommerfeld.

Survived by her sister Katharine (Kay) Sommerfeld of Pickering and her sister-in-law Jean Kinzinger of Stouffville; by her three sons and their spouses: James and Sharon Blomfield of Waterloo, Gordon Blomfield and Bea Foulis of Abbotsford BC, Steven and Alexis Blomfield of Kanata, and by her daughter-in-law Karen Blomfield of Alliston. Lovingly remembered by her six grandchildren: Karl Blomfield, Kari (Matthew) Bevan, Lori (Daniel)Waring, Julie (Taylor) Munro, Pamela (Adam) Medjesi and Douglas Blomfield; by Kimberley Peters; by three great-grandchildren: Tristan Blomfield, Cameron Blomfield and Lincoln Waring; and by her nieces and nephews and their families.

A celebration of life will be held in the spring and interment will be at Highland Memory Gardens in Toronto. Donations may be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association or to Doctors Without Borders.

The family wishes to thank all those at Queensway-Carleton Hospital who cared for Elizabeth with such competence and compassion.
