BRYENTON, Earl Leslie 1928-2019

It is with sadness that the family of Earl Bryenton announces his death from cancer on April 29, 2019 at his Ottawa home in the company of loved ones. Earl was born in the Miramichi town of Bryenton, New Brunswick on February 27, 1928 to Agnes (nee McAllister) and Everett Bryenton. After graduating in Engineering from the University of New Brunswick in 1953, Earl worked for Bell Canada in Montreal, Northern Ontario, Kingston and Ottawa. He then joined Northern Electric and Bell Northern Research. Upon retiring in the 1980s, he pursued his interest in healthcare and founded Brytech, a medical devices development and manufacturing company that produced a range of products to assist blind people and to remotely monitor patients. As a lifelong outdoorsman and sports enthusiast, Earl continued golfing, canoeing, sailing, skiing, hunting and fishing into his final years. He enjoyed over 50 years of building, tinkering and relaxing with family and friends at his cottage on Dalhousie Lake.
Earl will be greatly missed by his wife Bonnie (nee Seevers), sons Alan, Larry (Jan) and Paul, daughter Gillian and their children Isabelle, Sarah, Bryan Davey and Lauren Davey and Bonnie’s children David Smith (Shawna Holmes), Brian Smith, and Kristin Smith (Sam Beltran) and their children Avery, Jake and Hannah Grace, and Maia and Noah. Earl was predeceased by his brother Edward Murphy and former wife Norma (nee Plumb), and is survived by his brother Newton (Helen) and sisters Hilda Rushbrook and Velma Wilson (Charles) of New Brunswick.
Friends are invited to visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod St. (at O’Connor) on Thursday, May 9th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A service to celebrate Earl's 91 years of life will be held at Rideau Park United, 2203 Alta Vista Drive, on Friday, May 10th at 2:00 p.m., followed by a reception in the church hall. Donations in memory of Earl to the University of New Brunswick Alumni or Rideau Park United Church, would be appreciated.
