Obituary for Major John Neary Courtney, C.D., RCEME
On January 30th, Major John Neary Courtney, C.D., RCEME (Retired); beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, Uncle, Brother and Son passed away peacefully surrounded by family. John was a passionate army engineering Officer. He volunteered to serve in Korea as part of the United Nations command and was a proud Veteran.
John was posted to the Canadian military joint staff in Washington, later joining the public service in Ottawa, retiring as Director General of commercial acquisitions with the department of supply and services.
His charming personality left a mark on everyone he met. He will forever be remembered as a true gentleman with a great sense of humour and a kind soul. He will be missed by all.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Wounded Warriors Canada would be appreciated.
Friends are invited to the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street (at O’Connor) on Thursday, February 7, 2019 from 10am-12pm.
