Obituary for Anne Monson-Baylin (Goren)

Age 93, died peacefully on Wednesday,April 10, 2019. Born in Russia, to parents Abraham Goren and Rose Gelmen, she spent most of her life in Ottawa. She leaves behind her loving children, Joy Kardish (David) and David Schlesinger (Ann) as well as grandchildren Josh (Dr. Ellen Goldbloom), Sasha Kardish (Jay Slack), Tobin Kardish (Holly) and Simon and Jason Schlesinger. She is survived by her loving sister Sally Taller.

She also leaves to mourn, her several great grandchildren, Sam, Ben, Rachel, Oliver, Theodore and Elliott. Known by friends and family as Honey, Anne was pre-deceased by her late brother David, her late husband Jack Monson and her late husband Jack Baylin. Honey was also Stepmother to Ross Baylin (Suzanne) and Shelley Amor. She will also be sadly missed by her dear nieces Fran (John Spinks) and Dodie (Bram Potechin).

Ever a trendsetter and style maven, Honey was always ahead of her time. She and her sister Sally opened Regency Dress Salon, known as the fashion destination for stylish Ottawa women. Later, her dear friend and business partner Cynthia Weinstein operated the salon with her.

The family wish to offer their heartfelt thanks to Abby Hashi, her faithful and loving caregiver and to Kaha Mohammed, who also cared for Honey. They also appreciated the staff at Lord Landsdowne, especially Anna.

Funeral will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, April 14th at The Jewish Memorial Chapel at 1771 Cuba Avenue, Ottawa, followed by burial at the Jewish Memorial Gardens, 2692 Bank Street, Ottawa. Shiva to take place at 58 Telmon Ave., Ottawa On on Monday April 15 and Tuesday April 16th .
