Obituary for Sophia Abdi Okwir
Sophia A. Okwir passed away on Saturday, March 02, 2019 at the age of 19 years. Beloved daughter of Ayaa Judith Okwir and Abdi Mohamed, Sophia will be sadly missed by her mother, family and many dear friends. She will especially be dearly missed by her grandmother Esther Acan Okwir, her uncles Otim Harris Okwir (Josee Gaudet) and Oloya Joseph Okwir, and her aunt Samali Amony Okwir.
Sophia was polite, compassionate, and lived a very unselfish life with family and friends as her centre of comfort and joy. Sophia attended Severn Avenue Public School, Regina Public School, D. Roy Kennedy Public School, and Woodroffe High, before attending Carleton University, where she was in her second year of study in the Department of Psychology.
A celebration of Sophia’s life will be held on Friday, 8th from 11:00 am-1:00pm at Bethel Pentecostal Church, 500 Viewmount Dr., Nepean. Donations may be made in the name of Sophia to either BREATHE The Lung Association or the Ottawa Diabetes Association.
