Obituary for Ginette Flora Schleppe (nee Bastien)
Ginette Schleppe, age 73, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2019. She was born July 6, 1945 in Montreal, Quebec to Henriette and Georges Bastien. She married her longtime friend and love, Michael Schleppe, in March of 1972 who preceded her in death in 2013.
Ginette was an avid traveller (who never carried her own bag), loved good food (that she didn’t have to cook), fine wine (that she didn’t have to pay for), a spirited debate (which she would win as everyone else would give up in exasperation), and spending time with her beloved pets Tootsie and Bob.
Ginette was also renowned for her ability to craftily avoid a bill at any restaurant by ducking “out to the ladies” at just the right time, her lack of patience, not holding back her opinion and a knack for” telling it like it is”. She always told you the truth even if it wasn’t what you wanted to hear – and we loved her for that. Ginette was a dedicated mother first and foremost, she treasured her daughter and son-in-law and embraced every moment with them.
Ginette will be forever remembered by her daughter and best friend Kerri, son-in-law Alex (Ho), her brother Michel (Bastien), her sister-in-law Elizabeth (Ellis) and by her extended family and friends.
Because Ginette believed that our pets give us unconditional love and enrich our lives, the family would be honored to have donations made to Ottawa Humane Society at www.ottawahumane.ca.
