Condolence From: Robert, Jennifer, Emilie, Nicholas and William Fry
Condolence: Dear Sarah, Josie, Lucy and the rest of the Brooks family, We heard the sad news about Brad here in Argentina and wanted to send you our heartfelt condolences. Brad and I coached together when Josie and Emilie played on the same team but we were also neighbours in Champlain Park. He was a great coach for the girls, very thoughtful and supportive. He gave a lot of his time to make sure it was fun and a good experience for all of them. I really admired his approach and dedication. He will be missed by many people but we will also remember the legacy he left behind and all the lives that he touched. We look forward to re-connecting with you when we are back in Ottawa, wishing we could be there in person to support you in this difficult time. Love and hugs from Rob, Jen, Emilie, Nicholas and William Fry xoxo

Condolence: I was so saddened to hear of Brad's passing. We worked together only for a short time, but he was an easy person to get to know and like. He was very kind and had a great sense of humour. My sincere condolences to his family.

Condolence: There is not a great deal of people that you continue to bring up 30 years after high school when you are regaling about your past. Brad is in so many stories of great times that were that I am truly saddened that despite the distance we did not keep closer. We met in grade 10 and became good friends. He moved to Mississauga before I did but was glad to meet up with him again after I finished university. When he left for England I couldn't help feel pride in the friend I had that was destined to be great because of the simple effort of knowing his abilities, wanting more, and trying. Settling in Ottawa was too far for any visits but we kept in touch for a while then drifted to Christmas letter greetings. I wish we were closer and we could have been friends with Sarah and watch the girls grow up. Its been over a year since I talked to Brad but he was so proud of you all when we did last speak. My heart is yours. I know your grief. Time will help but healing is a task that you have to will upon yourself. On my end I will try to remember Brad's off colour jokes and witticisms that was never short in supply. I love you Brad.... I wish we talked more

Condolence From: Drew, Camryn, Jane and Greg MacDougall
Condolence: Sarah, As I rubbed shoulders with Brad at the Fisher Park graduation last week, ever so briefly, in that frenetic rush that seems to now be part of our lives - it was then in that instant - where two dads expressed through a glance how proud we were of our girls: Drew heading to Nepean HS - Josie across town to Colonel Bye. We spoke often at the rink or when we saw each other on the street - we would always stop to chat. Like others, we were shocked if not dumb struck by the news of Brad's passing - angry even, that such a good man with so much to give has been taken from us... We are clearly comforted by his legacy: an incredible family and an even stronger community because of him. His passion was his family expressed through his work in the rink and in the neighbourhood. Few knew, that although Brad and I met through the OGHA here in Ottawa when Josie and Drew played together - Brad and I played for the same high school football team, a few years apart. So we would often find ourselves reliving our days with the CEC Cougars in Truro. He was one of those rare people I knew where we could part in a rush and then when we met again continue along with the same sentence as if we had never parted - even if weeks had past. Some say it's a Maritime thing. I say it's the sign of someone who truly cares about what you have to say. Sarah, to Josie and Lucy, our thoughts and prayers are with you. Greg (Drew, Camryn and Jane)

Condolence: Brad and I went to high school together but never hung out in the same circles. However we became close friends when we realized w both were attending the University of New Brunswick and were in the same male residence. We both enjoyed the Social side of UNB. We lived together the next year in Mackenzie House and had a great time and cemented our friendship for life. I was there for some tough and confusing times in Brads life and was so proud of him fr coming back to Dalhousie to finish his degree and then off to Oxford where he got his PhD and Sarah, a British girl who loved hockey, a real keeper as we would say. We both continued our busy lives but was great to caught up in Ottawa a few years ago to meet his girls who have embraced he and Sarah's love fr hockey. I am shocked at his passing and want to pass our deepest sympathies on to his family, he was too young to leave us!

Condolence: To the Brooks family I am so sorry for the loss of your husband and father. I felt compelled to send a note about the Brad I knew when he lived in Mississauga. We met Brad when he first moved to Mississauga. I'm guessing the mid 1980's. We were all in our mid 20's. We worked together at Lansing Buildall and played lots of Baseball and hockey together and against each other. Boys being boys we had plenty of good times together. He made tons of friends here. He was so likeable and personable. I will never ever forget his sense of humour, his jokes and his stories 30 years later I can still hear his voice see his facial expression as he tossed out the punch line. I have never forgot those story lines and never will. My buddy Rob and I made a trip to NS when Brad first moved back there and stayed at his dad's place. Brad was so smart, intelligent and intellectual we were so proud of him attending Cambridge in London England. We admired him even more for being fearless and driven to accept that responsibility. Our group of friends over the past 20 years still talked about Brad asked about Brad and most of all laughed about Brad. I know Ron and Rob probably kept in closer contact then I. In closing most important, I will never ever forget Brad we will still talk about him and laugh about him. He touched the lives of many here in Mississauga. Once again I am deeply sorry. Tony Henry

Condolence: I am devastated, for the loss, for Sarah, and for Josie and Lucy. Brad was a pillar in my community world, and a friend. He always took the time to see and hear people (me) deeply. His sharing was thoughtful, intelligent, and lasting. He was always kind and laughed easily. His eyes always twinkled when he talked about Josie and Lucy. He has raised two strong, amazing, intelligent, capable, and sensitive girls. My daughter Sage had many play dates with Lucy, so I was the beneficiary of getting a chance to hang out with both Brad and Sarah. Two of the finest. Brad was my daughter’s first hockey coach. She recently described the gifts her hockey coaches have given her over the years. Brad gave my daughter a sense of confidence and belonging, and being part of something bigger – really no bigger gift in life. Something I will always carry close to my heart. And of course Brad's contagious love of hockey... going to miss you Brad
