Obituary for Herbert Groenke

Herbert Groenke
Herbert Leo Groenke
January 3, 1935 – January 12, 2018
Herbert passed away peacefully at Hilltop Manor in Merrickville. Beloved husband and best friend of 60 years to Margarete (Margo) (nee Puhlmann). They both enjoyed many years of dancing, travelling, gardening and boating together. Herb was a loving, funny, card playing father to Dean and Gina (Charest). As a fun loving “Opa” to Olivia, Isobel, Zacharie and Maya, Herb greatly enjoyed giving the kids tractor rides, taking them fishing and of course the laughs brought on by “Hoppe, Hoppe, Reiter”. Herb is survived by his loving sister Brigitte (Dold), brother Rudi and predeceased by his brother Erich. After emigrating to Canada from Germany in 1957, Herb came to be a longtime employee and executive of Dustbane Enterprises, Michael’s Industries and founder of Reparex. Margo and Gina welcome you to celebrate the gifts that Herb’s life brought, on Saturday January 20, 2018 from 1pm-4pm. His life will be fondly remembered at The New Rideau Restaurant & Castle View Fine Dining, 7780 Merlyn Wilson Drive (Hwy 44), Kemptville, 613-258-7272. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Alzheimer’s Society.
