Condolence From: Karen Phillips
Condolence: A tribute to our dear Auntie Anne from Karen, Kate and Sam. When we gathered on New Year's Day around the dinner table, set with your beautiful Waterford wine glasses, we took some time to remember how special you were and how much you meant to each of us. Katie vividly recalls how you were always there for all her special moments at birthdays and Christmas with lovely thoughtful gifts. She remembers how you came to volunteer in her class at school and impressed the teacher and all the students with your wonderful warm personality and crafting talents. Sam fondly remembers how you patiently taught him to swim and dive in your backyard pool, one of his favourite places to go because you were so much fun. We recall how interested you were in his life, his friends, and his challenges. He will never forget your love and support. Nor will I, as you have been there for me my whole life in the same way, like a second mother. I remember all the fun we had at Tenaga in the summers when I was a little girl. Then as a teenager and I visited you at work "on the hill" I came to idolize the glamorous career woman you were. What I role model for girls in the seventies. Later you helped us move west and settle in our new home in Calgary, even though it was taking us away. We all treasured our visits to Ottawa so we could see you again! We know the last few years were very difficult and lonely for you and we are happy that you are finally at peace and reunited with your beloved husband and our equally dear uncle Ellwood.
