Mentor and Friend
Zsuzsika, you and Sanyika were my childhood's second parents as I grew up with Pisti and Palko. Throughout all these years of sweet memories three in particular have remained with me.
First were the numerous times Sanyika would play with Pisti and I with our toy soldiers. (apologies to Paul for ignoring you then but at the time you werent interested yet!) Sanyika would always teach us how to play creatively using our minds to develop strategy as well as creating the most wonderful and imaginative battle scenes with our handiwork. Each play session with him turned into a relished entertainment and educational experience.
Second was when I would stay overnight at your home and he would cut us his famous 'szalonna' (bacon) sprinkled with paprika on rye bread. He would cut them up into little bites like marching soldiers and Pisti, Palko and I would have a thrill eating them up. Sanyika's creativity and imagination once again turned even routine eating into an enjoyable experience.
Finally, when we had our first born Nadia, Sanyika had carved her a beautiful wooden boat for her bath, a toy with which she played with countless times. Of course the boat eventually passed on to Marky and both kids grew up knowing exactly who was the original builder of their little 'floating masterpiece'. To this day of course Sanyika's little boat remains with us as a cherished family souvenir.
With time there were many chess games, discussions about history and movies. As the years flew by conversations turned to business, work, politics and eventually to raising a family. Whenever I would be with Sanyika I always felt I was in the presence of an exceptional mind and soul who cared for me and those I loved and like a sponge I sucked up every word he would bless me with.
Sanyika's love and passion for life were contagious and easily life changing for anyone who had the fortune to spend time with him. Your physical presence will be sorely missed Sanyika but for all who have known you, you are and will always be with us. Love you. Jankuli.
