Obituary for Alistair Menzies Ross

Alistair Menzies  Ross
On Thursday, February 13, 2020 in Ottawa, Canada at the age of 89. He is predeceased by his wife Thérèse and survived by his children Graham, Trevor and Nadia, his grandson Alexander, and his great grandson Carter. Born in Glasgow Scotland, son of William & Catherine Ross and brother to Elinor. After receiving his degree in architecture in Glasgow, he immigrated to Ottawa in 1954 and began work at the department of Public Works, then went to Gilleland and Strutt, and eventually formed his own practice in downtown Ottawa, Alistair M. Ross, Architect. His work can be seen throughout Ottawa, from his early projects such as the Juliana Apartments to latter works like the Barrister House. Throughout his long and fruitful career, he designed buildings and homes, heritage builds to new constructions. A lover of music, he played in multiple jazz bands all of his life. Rest in peace, dear Alistair. There will be no visitation or funeral service, by request. A private family burial will take place later and a celebration of life will be held in the summer in Wakefield.
