Obituary for Allan Wilbert Hamilton

Allan Wilbert  Hamilton
On the morning of July 2, 2020 Allan passed away after a short illness. His life was blessed with a loving family and friends, longevity, good health and laughter. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by his family and everyone he touched over his many years.

Allan was born in Ottawa, the eldest son of the late Wilbert and Olive Hamilton (nee Patterson). Married to Mavis Hamilton (nee McKibbon d. 1997) he is survived by his son Brian, his daughter-in-law Doreen and his two granddaughters, Wellsley Hamilton (Andre Gagnon) and Whitney Hamilton (Kevin Cook) and great granddaughters Elle, Dylan and Parker.

He is also survived by his brothers Donald Hamilton (Carol) and David Hamilton (Darlene) and his sister Sheila Hamilton (Duncan Campbell) as well as sisters-in-law Barbara Knapp (late Gordon) and Sharon Castonguay (late Jean). He was predeceased by his step-mother Marjorie Hamilton, sisters Lois Boicey (late Orville), Gail Newton and Joan Sharp and brother-in-law Richard McKibbon (late Sheila).

Over the years Allan shared a special relationship with his cousin Norman Hamilton and was also a much-loved uncle to all his nephews and nieces taking great interest in their lives and endeavours.

Following apprenticeship as a printer, army service in World War II and a public service career with the Queen’s Printer as a Plant Manager, Outside Printing Production, Allan experienced a long and well-earned retirement, enjoying his family life, travelling extensively and following his much loved sports teams the Ottawa Senators and Toronto Blue Jays.
