Obituary for Anna Jeanne Cousineau (Wakely)

Anna Jeanne Cousineau (Wakely)
Our beloved Mom passed away peacefully of natural causes on May 13, 2020 at the Queensway Carleton Hospital, Ottawa. She was born on December 9th, 1925, in Hamilton, Ontario, to parents Elsie and James Wakely. Beloved wife of the late Captain Yvon Cousineau (Army retired 1968, University of Ottawa head of security, CMHC head of security). She will be loved and missed by her children James (Margaret), Suzanne (Michael), Denise (Don), David (Kathy), Beverly (Randall), Paul (Victoria), and Daryl (Gladys). She was an adored Nana to many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and admired by her extended family. Due to a military family life she lived in cities across Canada, including Edmonton, Vancouver, CFB Borden, and Quebec City, finally returning to Ottawa in 1968. Retired Foster Parent Head for the former USC (Unitarian Service Committee of Canada) and enjoyed her time in Africa visiting countries and areas where the USC sponsored and helped people help themselves..

Many thanks to the wonderful and caring staff at her retirement community, The Court at Barrhaven, where Mom recently resided. We cannot say enough about the amazing management and staff and their dedication to the well-being of the residents.

Due to the current circumstances, a Celebration of her life will be held at a later date when we can all be together. Should you wish, a donation to Diabetes Canada at https://www.diabetes.ca/ in Jeanne’s memory would be appreciated by the family.
