Peacefully surrounded by his family, on January 23, 2020 at the age of 97. Predeceased by his parents José Pereira and Etelvina (Sousa) of São Miguel, Azores, Portugal. Beloved husband of Zulmira Pereira (nee Teves) for 67 years. Beloved father of Teresa (Manuel), Hirondina (Afonso), Odilia (Ivo), Ana-Maria (late Carlos), Leonilde (Semião), Germana (Cristovão), Maria-Helena (João-Maria), Hermano (Alice), José António (Marcia), Afonso (Maria Zelia), Victor (Christina), Nelia (Tony), Paulo (Lisette). Proud grandfather of Cliff, Sylvie, Tony, Elisa, Jessica, Ashley, Bruno, Milton, Andrea, Leila, Filipe, Christopher, Ruben, Sofia, Joshua, Marta, Kathleen, Kevin, Anthony, Fabio, Sara, Mikaela, Daniela, Carolina, Jacob and Emma. Great-grandfather of Thiago, Andrew, Karina, Mateo, Mikaela, Matilde, Erica, Françisca, Tatiana, Jorge Miguel, Adriano, Leandro, Ricciardo and Theo. Great-great-grandfather to Maverick. Predeceased by his son Antonio and son-in-law Carlos, his beloved sister Madalena, and brother José. Loving brother of Isabel, Deniz, João and Agostinho. Loving uncle of their children and grandchildren.

He will be remembered for his passion for soccer, especially his beloved team Sporting Club of Portugal and his ability to transform simple words into beautiful poetry.

A special thanks to the staff at the General Hospital in the Hemodialysis department and to the staff of Élisabeth Bruyère Hospital.

Friends are invited to visit at the St. Laurent Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 1200 Ogilvie Road (at Aviation Parkway), Ottawa, on Sunday, January 26, 2020 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

A funeral Service will be held at Senhor Santo Cristo Church, 1100 Kenaston Street, Ottawa, on Monday, January 27, 2020 at 11 a.m. Burial will take place at Beechwood Cemetery. Reception to follow in the church hall.
