Artur Dias
Artur Dias, born January 7, 1932 in Pousaflores, Ansião, Portugal passed away May 29, 2020 in Ottawa. Predeceased by his parents Joaquina De Jesus and Antonio Dias, as well as beloved siblings Palmira, Maria, Joaquina, Alberto and Palmira. Dear Tio to Manuela Neves (Manuel), Pedro, Pedro Jr., Ana (Bruno) Tomas and Joana, Artur Marques (Francisca) Andreia (Bruno) Eva, Guilherme and Sofia, Isabel Pereira (Geordie) Lucas and Felicia, Cristina Pereira (George) Miguel and Daniela,

He began apprenticing as a barber at 11 years old in Alvaiazere, Portugal. In 1964, Artur arrived in Montreal but shortly after moved to Ottawa where he spent a lifetime cutting hair at “Art’s Barbershop” in the Iris Plaza. He took great pride in being a sponsor of the Pinecrest Hockey League, being involved in the community, making clients happy, and being a vibrant part of his family and the Ottawa Portuguese community. He also sponsored multiple children with World Vision Canada over a span of 31 years. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him, especially his family.

His family would like to thank the wonderful staff at The Garry J. Armstrong Long Term Care Home especially the staff on the sixth floor for their friendship, care and compassion for our uncle. Donations to The Ottawa Heart Institute or Parkinson Society of Ottawa are greatly appreciated.
