Obituary for Barbara Ann Thomas
It is with profound sadness that we share that our brave and beautiful mum and Naina, passed away peacefully at the May Court Hospice, with her daughter by her side, after a courageous battle with cancer. She will forever be loved and missed by her daughter Helen (Andrew Davies) and her cherished grandsons Connor (Allison) and Thomas Dunnigan, Owen and Dylan Crawford. Being their Naina was her life’s greatest joy. She will also be greatly missed by her son-in-law Ed Dunnigan, brother John (Joan) and sister Dilys Bradshaw (late Dave) along with her cherished nieces and nephews in the UK and Australia. She was the glue within the Thomas family and kept everyone close.
Mum took great comfort in knowing she would be reunited with her beloved and deeply missed daughter Julie who lost her own courageous battle 3 ½ years ago. She is also predeceased by her parents Edward Bowen Thomas and Alice Helen (nee Morgan) as well as her brother Dave (the late Betty), sisters Marie Gilvary, Helen (late Joe Ellis) and Gwen and her nephew Jonathan Thomas.
She also leaves behind her many friends that she made along the way on her life’s adventures; from growing up and starting her family in Wales, working at the YMCA, Carleton U and Foreign Affairs and her adventures that took her to Kandahar, Kabul and Jamaica.
Friends are invited to remember Barbara at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Avenue (at Richmond Road) on Sunday, September 11th from 1-4 pm and Tuesday, September 13th from 2:30 pm until her Celebration of Life service at 4 pm.
