Bernadette (Bernie) Gareau
December 7, 1939 - January 16, 2020

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Bernie Gareau on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at the Ottawa Hospital (General Campus).

Bernie will be forever loved and missed by her children Nicole Carvell (David Danic), Gilles Boisvenu (Alanna Howell) and Suzanne Boisvenu (Michel Smith). She will also be greatly missed by her beloved grandchildren Jessica (Christopher), Elise (Tyler), Emily (Matthew), Daniel (Shannon) and Michaël as well as her great-grandchildren Alice, Mason and Theo. She is survived by her brother Gilles Gareau.

Bernie’s family would like to acknowledge all the hard working physicians, nurses and medical staff who cared for her during the last few months of her life, particularly Doctors McRae and Reignier as well as Laura Giannantonio and all the wonderful staff in the 6 West ward at the Ottawa Hospital.

At her wish, Bernie has been cremated and a private gathering will be held at a later date.

C’est avec grande tristesse que nous vous annonçons le décès de Madame Bernie Gareau, le jeudi 16 janvier 2020, à l’Hôpital d’Ottawa (Campus Général).

Bernie laisse dans le deuil ses enfants: Nicole Carvell (David Danic), Gilles Boisvenu (Alanna Howell) et Suzanne Boisvenu (Michel Smith). Elle restera dans la mémoire de ses petits-enfants bien-aimés Jessica (Christopher), Elise (Tyler), Emily (Matthew), Daniel (Shannon) et Michaël, ainsi que ses arrière-petits-enfants: Alice, Mason et Theo. Elle prédécède son frère, Gilles Gareau.

La famille de Bernie souhaite reconnaître le dur travail des physiciens, des infirmières et du personnel médical qui ont pris soin d’elle durant les derniers mois de sa vie, tout particulièrement Dr. McRae et Dr. Reignier ainsi que Laura Giannantonio et l’excellent personnel du Quartier 6 Ouest.

Selon les voeux de Bernie, une Célébration de vie privée aura lieu à une date ultérieure en présence de ses cendres.
