Obituary for Beverley "Bev" Reynolds

Suddenly on April 27th, 2023, at the age of 72, beloved Beverley Jane Reynolds (née Wass) passed away.

Beverley was born in Regina in 1950 to Reginald and Verna Wass (nee Rowe). Some years later her brother Blaine was born.

She went to Connaught School, Sheldon Williams Collegiate and the University of Regina where she trained as a teacher.

She met her husband Tom at a dance at St. Mary’s Anglican Church in Regina where they later married in 1972.

In the same year they moved to Ottawa where Bev took up work as a teacher at the Protestant Children’s Village and joined the first Church of Christ Scientist. She served the church as a reader, a board and committee member, a Sunday school teacher and a reading room librarian. She later worked for Weekenders, Welcome Wagon and the Blackburn Hamlet preschool where she was also a board member.  She also volunteered as a Girl Guide leader for many years and help manage a community group for women called “Time off”.

She brought five children into the world, her first son David, his wife Valancy and children Andrew, Ella and Peter of Ottawa, ON; her second son Colin, his wife Melanie and son Victor of Aylmer, QC.; her third son Brian and fiancée Julia of Vaughn, ON; her first daughter Karen of Ottawa, ON and her second daughter Laura of Dawson Creek, BC.  She is also survived by her brother Blaine Wass, his wife Pat and their children Steven (fiancée Emily Depatie), Michael (partner Tenielle Bogdan) and Matthew (partner Ashley Knisley) of Regina, SK; Tom’s brother Keith Reynolds of Vancouver, BC, his children Alexa (partner Daniel Johnston and son Benjamin, step children Elena and Isaac) of St-Prex, Switzerland, Matthew (wife Jillian and son Harrison) of Port Moody, BC.

She enjoyed entertaining family and friends and studying genealogy. For many years, she and Tom enjoyed Scottish Country dancing. Like her father, she was an enthusiastic gardener. She loved to watch the birds who gathered around her bird feeder and hopped around in the back yard. She loved spending time at Katepwa Lake in Saskatchewan ever since her mother and father built a cottage on its shores in the 1950s. She studied French, so she could speak to her grandson Victor in his native language.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Ottawa Hospital Foundation.
