Cathleen Anne "Cathy"  Caven
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Cathleen (Cathy) Caven after a long battle with cancer. She passed away peacefully at home on the 30th of December 2019. Cathy surpassed all expectations for survival and was in the ninth year of her courageous fight. She and Ezio always maintained a very positive outlook despite facing many challenges. She will be missed beyond measure by husband Ezio Berolo, sister Janice Kidziun, brother Jon Caven (Patricia Caven), step children Nick Berolo (Mary Sheridan), Sophie Berolo (Owen Gallupe), grandchildren, Rosa and Jane. Nieces, Chandra Verschueren (John Verschueren), grandniece Haley, Jennifer Kidziun-Borkwood (Brad Borkwood), grandnephew Joshua. Nephew Jordan Kidziun (Holly Kidziun), grandnieces Gemma and Poppy.

A celebration of Cathy’s life will be held on February 1st, 2020 between 1pm and 3pm at Hulse, Playfair and McGarry, 315 McLeod St. Please bring your fond memories of Cathy.

Acknowledgements
We would like to recognize the tireless care and support given Cathy by her family physician Dr. Suzanne Wilkinson and Sherry who always managed to get Cathy a last-minute appointment, when needed.

We would like to acknowledge the high quality of care provided by Cathy’s gynecologic oncologist, Dr. Johanne Weberpals of the Ottawa Hospital, General Campus. Her knowledge, dedication and patience always resulted in new approaches to cancer care for Cathy. This extended and sometimes saved her life during her nine-year battle with ovarian cancer.

We would also like to recognize the loving care and positive support of the nurses at the Cancer Center of the Ottawa Hospital, General Campus like Jacynthe, Alana, Cathy, and many others.

We would also like to thank Jody Gannon of the LHIN (CCAC) for her constant support and in directing to us the essential resourced required, the CareFor nurses at the Belfast Clinic: Marnie, Judy, Maria, Anick and Stephanie Beatty among others, receptionists Carol and Myra and Patrick, who was always able to accommodate a busy schedule for appointments. We would also like to thank Sue Shea of the Regional Palliative Consultation Team for her availability, advice and ability to mobilize the right resources when needed.

We would like to acknowledge the excellent care provided by Drs. G. French and A. Hadziomerovic and Amanda’s tireless help in solving problems and reorganizing schedules at the Angio Unit, Interventional Radiology and Dr Forgie of the Thrombosis Unit at the General Campus.

Career
Cathy’s career spanned over nearly three decades, in the areas of Information Technology, Systems Development, Data Architecture and Modeling as well as Structured Analysis and Design. In addition, she was an early developer and adaptor of Computer Based Training. After extensive careers with Taxation Canada and Domus Software Ltd., she formed her own corporation, C. A. Caven and Associates. As a consultant she held contracts with HRDC, Statistics Canada, DFAIT, DND, Secretary of State, Revenue Canada, CIDA and others.
