Obituary for Charlotte Elizabeth Jamieson (Campbell)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Charlotte Elizabeth Jamieson (nee Campbell) who died peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, August 6, 2020. She will be sorely missed by her daughters Fiona, Morag (Steve) and Sheila, her grandchildren Craig (Shelley), Jason, Sarah (Brian), Jessica, Julia, Ian, Stuart and Braden, and her great-grandchildren Jake, Clay and Ethan.

Lottie (as she was known to everyone) was predeceased by her husband Stuart, her parents and her 15 siblings. Lottie had a happy childhood growing up in Crieff, Scotland, and at the age of 18 started her five years of service in the Second World War in the ATS where she was chosen for special training to become a ‘Gunner Girl’. Trained as a height finder on the anti aircraft guns (ackacks), Lottie was deployed to defend the coasts of England, Ireland and Wales from incoming enemy bombers.

Married in 1943, Lottie, Stuart and Fiona immigrated to Canada in 1954 and settled in Ottawa. Lottie happily spent the rest of her life in Ottawa raising her children, spending time with her grandchildren and maintaining her beautiful gardens.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Rideau Two South wing of the Perley and Rideau Veterans’ Health Centre for their great kindness and devotion in caring for our mother throughout her stay and in particular during her final days as a palliative care patient.

As per Lottie’s wishes, there will not be a wake. A celebration of life in her memory will be held at a future date. Donations can be made to the Perley and Rideau Veterans’ Health Centre Foundation in Lottie’s name.
