Obituary for Christopher William Garith Parish

After 50 years living life to the very fullest, Christopher Parish died peacefully in Ottawa with his family surrounding him and in the care of the ICU. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by his wife Lauralyn, his daughter Maia, sister Susan, mother Fran, mother-in-law Marion, brothers-in-law Chris, Jeff and Warren, sisters-in-law Rhonda and Joann, nieces and nephews Ryen, Bryana, Kerry, Paul, Tara, Zack and baby Lucas, his dog Kiko, lifelong mates Pat, Bucky, Chris and Cory, his boss and mentor Herb and the Lagois team, and by his large extended family and the many good friends who were blessed to know him over the years. He has now joined his father, Gary Parish, who died when Christopher was very young.

Christopher was a creative, open minded, kind, and non-judgemental soul who loved the people in his life deeply and unconditionally – his family, his friends, and his colleagues. Anyone who knew Christopher understood his sense of adventure, which was at times extreme! – and his quick wit and ‘Chrisisms’.

Despite the considerable challenges that cancer brought, Chris lived the last 3 years of his life to the fullest extent possible. Brave and stoic, he continued to live life on his own terms. Although he has left our lives on earth far too soon, he told us he will look after us and we know will remain with us in our hearts. The family would like to express their immense gratitude to Chris’s oncologist Dr Goodwin, his palliative care physician Dr Fitzgibbon and his ICU family at The Ottawa Hospital for ensuring Chris had quality of life right to his passing.

Due to the restrictions of Covid and by invitation, a Memorial Service celebrating Christopher's life will be held on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at 11:30a.m. For those wishing to participate virtually, please click on the link provided. Christopher Parish Service Livestream
