Obituary for David Paul Martin (Martin)

David Paul Martin
1990 – 2022

David passed away unexpectedly on July 25, 2022, a shock to us all. He was a young
man of many facets. He was an expert Master Mason, loved working with stone and
was proud of his craft. The Freemasons were an important part of his life as was
experimenting with new cooking recipes, the spicier the better, to which end he enjoyed
growing hotter and hotter peppers. Above all, family was important to him, both his
Costa Rican family (he was born in Costa Rica, adopted and brought to Canada) and
his Canadian family. In some respects, a man larger than life with boundless
enthusiasm for new projects, he was full of surprises, had a quirky sense of humour and
an enormous smile. We didn’t realize how much he was fighting his own inner demons.
David left us far too soon and will be missed so much! He is survived by his fiancé,
Kathleen Pinette, his mother, Barbara Martin, four children – Jonah, Alexia, Felix and
Miguel – and extended family both in Canada and Costa Rica.
A memorial will be held at a later date. For those who wish, donations can be made in
his name to any mental health charity.
Follow your dreams, David, and may you rest in peace!
