Obituary for Dieter Peter Kostron

It is with great sadness to say that Dieter passed away August 23, 2020 at the Elisabeth Bruyère Palliative Care Centre, after a long battle with Cancer.

A great gratitude goes out to all the staff, nurses and doctors, for their compassion and care for both Dieter and family.

He was born in Linz, Austria and moved to Canada with his family when he was just a child. Predeceased by his father Reinhold and mother Michaela. Survived by his loving wife and soul mate Lucinda Murrell, brother Michael, sister Ingrid, sister Karin Pouliotte (Brian), and various nieces, a nephew and great nieces and nephews.

Dieter retired from the Ottawa General Hospital in 2015 after 37 years of service. He started in Biomedical Engineering, then moved over into the Information Systems Department.

Dieter had a passion for cars and driving. He became an Advanced High-Speed Performance Driving instructor with the BMW Car Club of Ottawa, teaching at Race Tracks, Calabogie, Tremblant, Toronto and many American tracks. He was happiest when he was at a track event and never tired of it. He loved to help people become better and safer drivers.

He was such a lovable man, with a big heart, beaming smile and great bear hugs. He loved people and touched so many lives with his positiveness and joy. Anyone who met him was drawn into the magnetic force that was Dieter.

He will be greatly missed by Lucinda, his family and by his life-long friend Chuck Robinson and family, as well as our dearest friends, Frank Eng and Lynn Salvador. We love you Dieter and will miss you forever. You will never be forgotten.

A Celebration of Life will be heldd at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street (at O'Connor) on Friday, August 26 from 1-4 p.m.
