Donald “Don” Harris

It is with great sadness that the family of Don Harris announces his passing after a brief illness, on Sunday, January 19, 2020, at the age of 86 years. Don will be lovingly remembered by his wife Judy, who has been by his side for 36 years, and his son, Daniel (Marianne). Don will also be fondly remembered by his sisters Mary Hoffman, Juanita Frank (Norris), Sheila Buchanan (Wilfred), Wendy Johnson, and many nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces across Canada. He is predeceased by his parents Alice Nicholson and Edward Harris. Don was born in New Glasglow, Nova Scotia and served in the Air Force as an Airborne Electronics Technician, eventually achieving the rank of Corporal. After he retired from the military, he spent the rest of his career working at the National Research Council. Always tinkering with gadgets, Don had a particular passion for building and repairing clocks of all kinds. Preferring the most uncomplicated things, Don appreciated cold beer, plaid shirts, and simple conversation. In honour of Don’s wishes, no service will be held. Memorial donations in Don’s memory may be made to the Salvation Army.
