With heavy hearts we announce his passing surrounded by his family.
A Loving Husband of Helen (Hayes) for 61 years. Proud Father of; Robert, Keith (Carolyn), Steven (Darlene). Grandpa to: Ashley (Jeremie), Warren, Julia, Tyler, Bradley, Stephanie, Natalie and Amy. Dedicated Husband, Father, Grandfather, Mentor, A True Gentleman. Predeceased by his brother Glen (Bud) and Sister Shirley.
He had a Career as an Insurance Broker for over 55 years. Being an out going person, Don joined his father, Allan, in the Insurance Agency in 1950. The Business continues to be family owned and managed today. All due to his guidance and support. He received an Honorary Lifetime Membership in the Insurance Broker Association of Ontario.
He always gave back to the community. Managing Youth Sporting teams in the Canterbury Minor Hockey Association, or thru Lions International. Over his 51 years as a Lion he received; The Melvin Jones Award, The Helen Keller Award, Life Membership Award.
He enjoyed spending time with friends at the RCMP Curling Club.
His family would like to thank all the 4th Floor West staff at the Ottawa General Hospital, particularly Belande, Ramil, Emely & Wubetu for the care and attention Don received. Grave side interment will be held in Spring of 2021, at Trinity Anglican Cemetery, Bearbrook, ON. In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Ottawa Hospital Foundation or The Ottawa Heart Institute.
