Surrounded by family, Doris Margaret Lavergne (nee Gibson) was peacefully welcomed into the Lords arms at sunrise, on Friday November 6, 2020 in her 94th year. She is predeceased by her loving husband Milton Ernest Lavergne of 69 years. They are now together holding hands and dancing in heaven.

Loving mother to Barbara Carlson (Brian) and Anne Stalkie (Bruce). Beautiful and devoted Nanny to Erin (Dave), Shannon (Ken), Amanda (John), Kirk (Elizabeth) and Trevor. Exceptional Great Nanny to Dawson, Madison, Carson, Sawyer, Ryker, Hailey and Charlotte. We will cherish the lifelong memories made at Mississippi Lake.

The family would like to graciously extend their most sincere appreciation and gratitude to the memory care staff at Orchard View by the Mississippi Almonte, for their unconditional love, affection and compassionate care to whom they lovingly called “Momma”.

The family will celebrate the beautiful life of Doris privately and requests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Alzheimer Society or The Canadian Cancer Society.

“A family is a circle of love, not broken by a loss but made stronger by the memories."

My heart broke to hear that your mum had passed. I haven’t worked at Orchardview for almost a year now and have missed your mom tremendously. I was incredibly lucky to have known her for almost 2 years. We would have morning chats, and she would tell me wonderful stories about how she had met your dad. She always would say how proud she was of her daughters and family. She will be terribly missed and was a beautiful person. My thoughts are with you all.

Dear Anne, Barb and your families,
I was so saddened to learn of Doris's passing. She was such a wonderful, loving and caring person. She was always quick to extend a hug whenever I was up to Barb and Wayne's cottage. Oh how I loved to hear the words too - Linda, I just baked some date squares, here's a plateful for you. I still have and cherish the teddy bear she gave to me when my Mum passed away. It will have even more meaning now that Doris is no longer with us too. I know you all have MANY happy and cherished memories of your own that will see you through the days ahead. My heart is lifted knowing that your Mum is now back in her rightful place, in your Dad's loving arms. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Dear Anne, Barb and Families
My heart is breaking for the loss of such a beautiful, special person whom I was lucky enough to have in my life. Doris was like a mother to me. I loved her dearly! Her and Mel were the best neighbours Wayne and I could ever ask for on the Mississippi Lake. I miss just dropping in for a chat and one of her delicious, freshly baked muffins. She was always there to lend an ear whenever I was having a difficult day or to give a hug when I truly needed one. She never judged and always gave great advice when she was asked for it. She had a smile that could light up any room she walked into. She is now reunited with her beloved Mel and Heaven is lucky to have them both. I feel secure knowing there is another Angel watching over me. Rest in peace my treasured friend! I will forever miss you!

Dear Anne, Barb and extended family How does one even begin to say how much this wonderful person meant to so many people. Doris touched the lives of so many of us and she was truly a lady in every sense of the word. She was so kind and special to my entire family who loved her dearly. There wasn't anything you couldn't ask her and she and Mel were always happy to help out, lend a hand or even an ear. Her hugs were special too and she gave them out so generously. My heart is heavy but is lightened by the fact that she and Mel are reunited once again. I can just hear Mel's laugh saying Doris, what took you so long! When someone we love becomes a memory, that memory becomes a treasure; and oh what a treasure her friendship was!! We will miss you Doris! In love and friendship, Diane Pieters
