Condolence From: Norm Leckie
Condolence: Dear Shmuel and family
I was very sad to hear of Devorah's passing but will retain pleasant memories of her. She was always kind and happy to see me, with a lovely smile on her lips -- even in the latter days when I saw her at Hillel. I believe there was a glint of recognition in her eyes when I mentioned my late mother Byrtha and OMJS. May her memory be a blessing.

Condolence From: Toby and David Brooks
Condolence: Dear ones,
thinking about Dvorah takes our thoughts back many years. We moved to Ottawa in 1970. When we joined Temple Israel, Dvorah and Morris were among the first people who greeted us.We soon enjoyed their hospitality at Shabbat dinners. She and Morris were determined to make newcomers feel welcome and find a place in the community.
About 5 years later, we we made a trip to Israel. We were in Jerusalem, standing on a hill , overlooking Germantown. looking down, we said together, "Funny, those people look like Dvorah and Morris from Ottawa." Looking again, it WAS Dvorah and Morris. We spent a pleasant few days with them and Shmuel's family. We keep a special place in our hearts for Morris and Bonna.
We will remember Dvorah as a woman devoted to her children, grandchildren, who had respect for all people.
May her memory be for a blessing.
With sympathy,
Toby & David Brooks

grieve

be careful now
as you awaken

you have been hurt
deep in your world

where one path ends
and a life goes thru. 1996

Our Mother

Our mother
who art the earth
woman is thy name
your home is here
your family's near
on earth as it is in heaven.

You are the night and gave us bread.
You are the seasons and the seas.
You are the home in the tempests.

Help me to change and grow.
Help me to learn and offer.
Help me go my way with trust.

And I thank you
for I was small.
