Obituary for Eric Victor Bool

Passed away peacefully at the Ottawa Hospital, Civic Campus on April 27, 2020, after a brief illness, just short of his 100th Birthday.

Predeceased by his wife, Truda in 2003, and daughter Angela in 2016. Left to mourn is daughter, Linda (John) in the UK.

Eric was born in London, England on July 6, 1920, and after completing his schooling, joined the British Territorial Army in 1939. After being demobilized at Greenock, Scotland in 1946, he joined British Steel Corporation and worked as an auditor in the southern England area. In 1957 he transferred to the Toronto branch of British Steel, and later became a payroll auditor with the then Unemployment Insurance Commission also in Toronto. When the Coverage and Contributions aspect of the Commission was absorbed by Revenue Canada in 1972, he continued his payroll auditing career with Revenue Canada`s Vancouver branch, later transferring to Head Office in Ottawa, where he continued to work in managerial positions until his retirement in 1985.

Eric was an avid rugby player both in the UK and later in Canada where he continued to play until the age of 45.

He was also a keen golfer, and was a member of Ottawa`s Hylands Golf Club, continuing to play well into his 90`s.

He will be greatly missed by long time golfing friends and colleagues Drew Isaac (Diane) and Jim Day (Paula).

At Eric`s request, there is to be no funeral service. Remains to be cremated and ashes scattered at his beloved Hylands Golf Course.
