May 30, 1939 - April 7, 2020
It was with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Erman Evgin on Tuesday, April 7, 2020. Erman was known for his gentle personality, his generous spirit, and his kind smile. Beloved husband to Judy, whom he married in 1985, devoted father of Laura (Alex Bush) and excited grandfather to Samuel Erman, who was named in his honour. Erman was born in Yalova, Turkey and he immigrated to Canada in 1970. After earning his PhD from the University of Alberta, he began a lifelong pursuit of research and a passion for teaching at the University of Ottawa in 1986, where he was known for his dedication to his students even in his retirement. He loved cycling with Judy, either on the bike paths in Ottawa or traveling the globe on his recumbent bike from the comfort of his basement. In memoriam, donations made to the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation are appreciated. The family will gather for a celebration of life to be held at a later date.
