Condolence: It was a shocking news to read Prof.Evgin's sudden death. From the first moments of my arrival to Canada ,2009,I saw him in Dept.Civil Engineering with a great smile and kindness. He was a role model for me; hours and hours we could talk and walk- those days I was new in Canada and he was the most influential supervisor not only in science but for me in life - He passionately was sitting with me and we could discuss hours and hours on network theory ,granular materials and his passion on finite-discrete element models- his life time memories from Turkey ,Alebtera,Toronto and Ottawa - We finally made one or two publications from our discussions and I am very happy and proud we made it-
Those days, I was very much interested in graph theory and he would guide me ;a true teacher- I will not forget the time he brought a beautiful carpet -which was a gift from his sister - to my apartment; It is now a dream when I remembered he came to Ottawa's bus terminal and we hugged each-others and I left to U of T- tears in our eyes ...He became a father for me in north America- He was a generous man in life and academia- rarely I saw people like Erman - a lifetime supervisor and friend-He supported me in many aspects -I saw Erman for the last time in winter 2014 in a short visit to Ottawa - He was passionate and full of energy - in researchgate ,I was sometimes updating him and he was checking my progress -
My best wishes to Judy and Laura whom he was very proud of them-
"And he said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.”"
