Suddenly on May 29, 2020, at home in Ottawa.

Fred will be remembered as the bass “anchor” in the choir of Mcleod-Stewarton Church, now known as Centretown United. Last December the congregation gathered to acknowledge Fred’s fifty-five years of service to the choir, and to celebrate and honor his commitment and contribution.

Throughout his life Fred performed in operas, and as a soloist, and with both choruses and carolers.

Fred was predeceased by his parents John and Myrtle, and his sister Rhoda. He leaves family: his dear brothers Robert and Ronald and his Uncle Bob Firminger, and good friends Bob and Eileen and numerous others that became like family, such as the chorus of “Opera Lyra”.

A “four person” service, and cremation has taken place. Interment at Beechwood Cemetery. A gathering at Centretown United Church for a celebration of Fred’s life TBA.

Fred had a natural love for sailing, so it is fitting to conclude with a verse from his favourite hymn.
