Obituary for George Seymour Tweedie

George Seymour Tweedie
Peacefully in his sleep, at his long time home in Alta Vista, George passed away in the early hours of Friday, June 26 after a brief battle with cancer. Born in Rockland Ontario, he learned the value of public service at an early age from his father the late Dr. William C. Tweedie. After a brief stint as a pilot, George obtained his teaching certification from the Ontario Teacher’s College in Ottawa in order to pursue his passion for education. A career teacher with the Ottawa Board of Education for 36 years, George taught Industrial Arts to generations of young students at local schools including Featherstone Drive and York Street Public. George is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Joan Beverley (Dibden), his daughter Cheryl Lynn, his two sons Brian George (Patsy) and Scott William (Elizabeth) and his grandsons Russell and Parker. A private family service will be held at graveside on Thursday July 2nd. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be sent to the Hospice at May Court or the Canadian Cancer Society.
