Obituary for Germaine Marie Fortier (nee Laniel)
It is with profound sadness that we announce that Germaine Marie Fortier (nee Laniel) born Feb 13, 1929 in Alburg Vermont, passed away at the age of 91.
She was an important part in her line of strong, hard-working and downright funny brothers and sisters. Germaine was a loving daughter, sister, wife to Roger, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to all who crossed her path (she could make friends with people standing in line at the bank – that is for us older folks – millennials get someone to explain), she will be eternally missed by her quirky family that she loved so much.
Ever joyful, full of pep,caring and creative. Germaine embodied the epitome of a genuine and generous spirit. Her light was felt by all and her long life was a legacy of smiles and belly laughs.Mom always enjoyed the company of family and friends. Her penchant for travel saw her going off to sites near and far visiting friends and family. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
A “celebration of life” will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers or donations, we ask you to do a random act of kindness to honor her memory as she was always the ultimate example of how life should be lived.
