Wayne Pointen died at the Ottawa Heart Institute on June 4, 2020. Wayne is survived by his beloved wife Laurine and brother Ward Pointen, and was predeceased by his parents the Rev Dr Harold W. Pointen and Audrey Ruth (Ketcheson) Pointen. Wayne served his entire work career (no sick days) as an educator in Latin, Greek, English and history and as assistant librarian at Woodroffe High School, Ottawa. He shared his fine baritone voice in church and village choirs and in duet with Laurine. Wayne enthusiastically shared trivia and historical data stored in his keen memory. Through Wayne we witnessed the value of reading and lifelong learning, and the joy of acts of kindness and compassion lived out wherever he found himself. He will be missed by family, friends, former students and colleagues. Memorial donations will be gratefully received by Emmanuel United Church, Ottawa, Ontario, Ottawa Little Theatre and Orpheus Society of Ottawa. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
