Obituary for Helen Grace Crosby (Brown)

Helen Grace Crosby (Brown)

August 11, 1928 – July 21, 2020

Helen died peacefully at the Queensway Carleton Hospital on Tuesday July 21, 2020. Helen, in her 92nd year, was the loving daughter of the late Jim and Annie (Hendra) Brown, and the beloved wife of the late John Crosby. Loving mother of Peter (Maria) and Paul (Becky). Sister of Audrey (Herb, deceased), Fred (Judy) and Predeceased by brothers Jimmy (Marilyn) and Harold.

Helen was a long-time member of St. Stephen’s Anglican Church, Ottawa. She was active in Bible Studies, Prayer Groups, and Pastoral Care. Helen was a great reader. She loved to dance. Her vision of heaven was of the saints in light dancing to a swinging version of “When the Saints go marching in!”

There will be no visitation at this time. A graveside committal will be held later this summer, and a memorial Eucharist celebrated at St. Stephen’s in the fall.

The family of Helen Crosby would like to thank the Palliative Care Department at the Queensway Carleton Hospital for their compassion and skill; the staff of New Orchard Lodge for their dedicated service, especially during the COVID-19 Pandemic; the Clergy and Lay Pastoral Care Ministers of both St. Stephen’s and St. Martin’s for their faithful ministry of visitation over the years; and Hulse, Playfair & McGarry Funeral Homes for their professional and caring service. Donations to St. Stephen’s Anglican Church, or the Ottawa Valley Wild Bird Care Centre are gratefully received.
