Obituary for Joan Elaine Shearon (Deegan)

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Joan Shearon at the Ottawa Civic Hospital on Monday, June 13, 2022, at the age of 87. Beloved wife of 65 years to Jim Shearon and loving mother to Brian Shearon, Mary Young (Jaimie), Catherine Shearon, Mike Shearon (Trish), David Shearon (Renée), and Melanie Miles (Paul). Proud grandmother to Braden Young, Julie Young, Adam Miles, Dylan Miles, and Joshua Miles. Predeceased by her sister Audrey Bradshaw and survived by her brother Ross Deegan.

Born in Montreal, Joan was a top student who received a scholarship to university. She chose to marry and start a family, pursuing academics later in life as a part-time student while working and raising six children. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree, Honours English, in May 2001.
Joan had a knack for home repairs and could be found doing anything from tarring the driveway, repairing the parging or general plumbing. She loved warm weather and sitting on the beach, and appreciated literature and music. She was a fan of mystery novels and a long-time member of the Canadian Showtime Chorus. She will be missed by her many friends from the chorus and the Red Hats Society.

Family and friends are invited to visit at St. Isidore's Roman Catholic Church, 1135 March Road, Kanata on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, from 10:00a.m. until 11:00a.m.  A Memorial Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00a.m.
